Utah Springtime Weather
I have always enjoyed the transitional weather patterns as spring prepares herself for our enjoyment. Last Friday morning the Salt Lake valley enjoyed a cold wet rain that had prevailed over the previous two days. On the East Benches where I live, the rain turned to snow flakes that gracefully fell and left a dusting of snow. I captured the event with my phone camera to preserve the memory, and an hour later there was no trace left to tell the tale. Quite often one can ski and cycle in the same day here in Utah and the two events take place 10 miles from each other.
J’aime faire du vélo. ( I enjoy cycling. )
Springtime Gardening
I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden. ~Ruth Stout
Since the first signs of spring arrived, my wife and I have been methodically tending to our garden and doing yard cleanup. We are in our third year of deep bed gardening and we hope we will have a wonderful harvest again this season. You can read about our garden harvests in my previous posts on gardening; We are passionate about gardening. This year our early spring crops planted in the deep beds include peas and potatoes, our indoor seed starts will be ready for outdoor planting as soon as they are safe from frost, Mothers day is a good rule of thumb in our neck of the woods.
Nous espérons avoir une récolte exceptionnelle. ( We hope to have a bumper crop. )

Apple tree Blossoms
The first hints of warm weather arrived early again this spring and our apple tree is displaying the most colorful blooms. Last season as this tree was in full bloom a late frost came that damaged them and our dreams of apple sauce. Each day now I follow the weather reports and vow to not let that happen this year.
Pas si je peux m’y apposer. ( Not if I can help it. )

Life Reflections
Life Reflections
Planning for a successful transition in Life.
At the time that I decided I wanted to start this Blog the decision for me to retire was just taking form. There was still two years of my career remaining before I would be eligible for this privilege. Knowing that staying active and finding a passion in my life would be key to a successful transition I began to layout plans for success.
Studying and learning French was already part of my weekly routine and one day I picked up a book that piqued my interest about niche blogging; I new instantly that blogging would fit nicely into my long term goals. Getting my blog site up and running was accomplished with relative ease and soon I was writing posts. Two months later I stopped posting to focus on my career and family, I knew the seed had been planted and it would one day begin to grow.
Reflection on Life
You will notice that an 18 month gap exists between “Apple Seedlings” and the previous post. Reflecting on that time period I am grateful for everything that transpired because it has all led me to where I am today.
Heureusement situé dans ma vie. ( Happily situated in my life. )
Purposeful Perseverance
There where many challenging events that occurred during that time and in the end I discovered through purposeful perseverance that joy and happiness prevails.
Persévérance Tenace. ( Purposeful Perseverance. )

Apple Seedlings
Apple Seedlings
Nourishing the Seeds Within.
Plants de pommier qui poussent dans un pot de fenêtre.
Every living thing on this earth needs nourishment to survive, it is one of the fundamentals of life. Ones best eating habits should strive to include eating “close to the sun”, meaning in short whole foods, one of my favorites are fresh apples. This wondrous fruit engages all of the senses; first off is the sight of the spherical fruit, its delicious color captures your attention while you hold it curled in the palm of your hand with your fingers gripped tightly around its circumference. Anticipating the sensation of its taste stimulated by its color you sink your teeth into the skin and hear the snap as the skin is penetrated, and then there is the aroma as the juices are released into the air.
Nous devrions manger près du soleil. ( We should eat close to the sun. )
One way that I enjoy this treat is to cut it in half and make four angular cuts in each half to core the apple. The core is destined for the compost bin while the meat of the fruit will be for my delightful enjoyment. It is this coring experience, which I have performed many times throughout my life, that I want to share. Very recently this process revealed quite a surprise for me; As I separated the two halves there before me were three whole seeds that I had managed to avoid with the knife blade. The surprise was that they each had spouted a single root system one half inch in length with the seed pod still attached to one end.
Being aware that events occur in my life as indicators of the path that I am on, I gazed and pondered for a moment and then realized these rooted seeds were a symbol of confirmation of my own internal feelings. Two years ago I started designing a new lifestyle for myself; I had recently become aware, through analyzing my internal emotions and feelings, that the seeds which I had sown inside myself have also rooted. Seeing this symbolism as “being on track” with my purpose, I felt gratitude for this awareness. I will continue to nourish these seeds within, watering and feeding them so that they will germinate and blossom.
Gratitude pour avoir conscience de l’expérience. ( Experience gratitude for having awareness. )
The three apples seedlings are now happily situated in a small pot in our kitchen where they will remain while I water and feed them until they are ready for outside planting.
Je suis heureusement situé dans ma vie. ( I am happily situated in my life. )
Have you listened to your inner wisdom and have a story we can enjoy?
