My French Phrase-a-Day Blog.
I have been a student of the French language off and on since 2011; It is important to note that this is my first exposure to learning a foreign language and I have to admit that I am really enjoying the experience. French is a challenging language and I am having a wonderful time with this experience. I am committed to becoming fluent in French; you could say that I am in this for the long haul. I will continue to travel to France when I can, my hopes are that I can arrange a six month stay in a small village somewhere in France to experience total immersion.
I started this blog site titled “French Phrase-a-Day” in July of 2014 when I was first planning my life after retirement. I was aware that having something to learn, build on and have passion for in this new and exciting phase of life was going to be a key ingredient for success. My posts will be about the experiences and situations we all come into contact with in our interactions with the world in which we all live in. Each day my intent is to keep my heart open and communicate with the world using the language of love, kindness, compassion, tolerance, and acceptance.
Designing and creating this blog site has been a fun challenge; it will be interesting to see what this develops into over time. I am intrigued with the possibilities that a dynamic content management system offers. I have countless note books with notes from the various French classes that I have taken, and my reference library has grown considerably. While these are all great study aids, what I am going to create with this blog site is an online study aid that I can travel with.
My ultimate goal is to grow this blog into a community of individuals that are interested in developing friendships and sharing their knowledge and experiences through the French language. Establishing connections with new French speaking people is essential to learning to speak and write the language. I have learned much about the French language yet I know there is much more that I have yet to discovered.
No time like now to get started with the discovery process, my plan is to write interesting material that will include a French phrase 3 – 4 times each week. I find that I remember a new French phrase when there is a community to share the experience with and when interpersonal connections and emotional attachments are established.
